IMAGES
ESiT’s Information Management and Geographical Evaluation System (IMAGES), developed in conjunction with the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), provides a total management solution for all of your contaminated land and environmental monitoring data.
IMAGES incorporates a suite of modules ranging from building and document registries to comprehensive tools for managing ground investigation and radiation monitoring data. Each module can function individually, allowing various data to be related to each other and attributed to objects, allowing you to build up a comprehensive database with a logical route to access your information.
The modules IMAGES provides are:
Building Register
A detailed register of all information relating to both current and demolished buildings, the building register allows you to capture data relating to building histories, construction details, and contamination summaries. Links to documents and photo registers allows you to collate all the information, pictures, maps and documentation with the building’s details to provide the complete picture. Additional links to ESRI ArcGIS allows for geospatial visualisation and querying.
Photo Register
An easy to use register to capture details regarding photographic information, allowing the association of electronic files and creation of thumbnail images of photographs. Links to the IMAGES Information Tree module allows the construction of a virtual directory structure to categorise your photos, helping to simplify searching and access to your data.
Document Register
A comprehensive register facilitating the capture of details corresponding to all documents relating to your contaminated land. The document register captures information relating to the document authors, custodians and content of documents, allowing the creation of notification letters informing custodians of document location.
Information Tree
The IMAGES Information tree provides intuitive functionality for navigating through all of your contaminated land data, making use of a standard Windows Explorer style interface. Simple drag-drop functionality provides the ability to associate different types of information from different registries onto the tree.
Health Physics
The health physics module allows the capture of data relating to radiological health physics data through a standard Excel template. The data can then be comprehensively interrogated before being viewed in GIS making use of IMAGES functionality to automatically create ArcGIS layer files.
Ground Investigation Data Register
The invasive survey module manages data relating to ground contamination collected from boreholes. As for health physics, data is entered through a standard Excel template. The data can be revised through IMAGES workflow controls and quality marking reports produced that validate the logged data. The data can be interrogated and exported to GIS for geospatial interpretation. Additional functionality includes links to LogPlot software enabling the creation of diagrams detailing the lithology of the borehole.
Groundwater Quality Data Register
Providing similar functionality to Invasive Survey, the Groundwater module collates all data relating to the contamination of water samples collected from boreholes. This data can be searched on and reported to GIS. Additional functionality includes the ability to produce time series reports of the groundwater to investigate the existence of one or more contaminants over a period of time.
GIS Manager
The GIS module allows you to compile a depository for approved GIS files, images and maps. Files submitted to this directory are inspected to confirm that associated metadata meets ISO standards before being released for general use. Subsequent edits are revision-controlled allowing a comprehensive history of maps and shapefiles to be created.
Sentencing
Bringing together data from other IMAGES modules, sentencing allows you to derive calculated risk assessments for your site dependent on the four main pathway receptors, i.e. Air, surface water, groundwater and direct exposure. Sentencing provides the basis for all decision-making relating to the contamination and decommissioning of your site.
GISViewLT
The newest tool incorporated into IMAGES is GISViewLT. Designed for users who only need to view data, GISViewLT provides a site map embedded on a form to allow users with no GIS knowledge to quickly and easily perform ‘what do we know for this area of the site’ searches.
Additional Functionality
Other functionality provided by IMAGES includes comprehensive flexible reporting tools and a general file manager allowing the archiving and distribution of electronic files. IMAGES also provides additional links to an Estate Records Database to provide notification of modifications to site base maps and AutoCAD models. As a truly flexible software solution, new modules and functionality can be added to IMAGES rapidly through the proprietary ADMiT System. On this basis, IMAGES is the complete management solution for your data.
