Adding to annual growth with the National Forest

17th March 2010

Kevin, andy & Laura ready to start work in the National Forest

ESiT’s sixth annual tree planting with the National Forest took place on 12 March 2010. Braving cold winds and the threat of rain, staff travelled to Poppy Wood near Melbourne in Derbyshire to plant 50 oak, ash and silver birch trees to offset the company’s Carbon Footprint for the last year.

Kevin, Andy and Laura (pictured here by National Forest’s official photographer Darren Creswell, of Creswell Photography) were welcomed by the National Forest team, who provided much needed hot drinks and biscuits as well as expert planting advice.

Seeing how tall ‘our’ trees have got over the years gives us a great sense of satisfaction, especially since it’s obvious from the number of people seen enjoying the walks around Poppy Wood that the area is greatly appreciated by both visitors and the local community.

Familiarity breeds...a healthy relationship

03 February 2010

The Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene has chosen ESiT’s thankQ database to manage its considerable membership needs.

The objectives of the Society are to promote and advance the study, control and prevention of diseases in man and other animals in the tropics and sub-tropics, facilitate discussion and exchange of information among those who are interested in tropical diseases and international health, and generally to promote the work of those interested in these objectives. It now has two thousand Fellows worldwide, who benefit from an annual programme of meetings in the United Kingdom and sessions at national and international meetings of other related societies and groups. Fellows also receive the Society’s journals the Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and International Health.

Several staff at the Society are old friends of thankQ, having used the software for several years in their previous roles at the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Trust. Their experience of the software’s functionality, flexibility and reliability made thankQ an obvious choice to handle the Society’s requirements, which will include integration with the Member Area of its website using a SOAP interface.

University says ‘thankQ’ after Telethon success

27 January 2010

Long-standing thankQ customer Keele University has achieved fantastic success in its recent fundraising Telethon. Aiming to raise £65,000 from its alumni, the University, in association with fundraising consultants Buffalo, raised a staggering £191,000!

The five years Keele has spent cultivating the affinity and goodwill of the 69,000 alumni on its database were well rewarded; pledges were gained from 40% of those approached during the Telethon. This excellent result was enabled by use of high calibre Telethon callers, all current Keele students recruited not only for their skill set but also for their passion for and knowledge of the university.

John Easom, Keele’s Alumni Officer, says:

"It would be impossible to achieve such great results without excellent data and the ability to extract key information quickly. thankQ provided that and was the basic building block for our success."

An ever growing number of universities are finding the thankQ database solution ideal for managing their CRM, development and alumni processes. This year has seen the universities of Portsmouth, Bradford, and Brighton, all become thankQ customers.

Andrew Scanlan, Development Manager at University of Brighton, praises the ESiT project team:

"I have been very impressed with how the project has been managed. The communication has been excellent and I was very pleased with all the work undertaken."

The success of Brighton’s six-month thankQ project was founded on the close relationship forged between the two organisations. A single point of contact at Brighton, with total focus on the project and the authority to make decisions, and a dedicated project manager at ESiT meant that two way communications were rapid and deadlines were comfortably met, despite the very complex data mapping issues involved in linking the university’s SITS (Student Information System) with thankQ.

Meanwhile, other well-established higher education customers continue to build on their flourishing thankQ installations. Click here to find out how thankQ’s easy third part integration contributes to the management and analysis of University of Edinburgh's twice-yearly Telethon.
