land qualityLand Quality

ESiT’s Land Quality solutions started life as separate modules designed to meet the needs of different departments within UKAEA. Since 1999 we have integrated these modules into a single product, IMAGES, which is now helping UKAEA and other organisations fulfil their requirements to manage land quality.

ground & water monitoring

The Water and Invasive Survey modules of IMAGES provide quality-controlled data capture of all information that will be recorded during a ground investigation, ranging from geological logging of boreholes to analytical results from soil or water samples. The Water Survey module provides functionality to produce time series reports while the Invasive Survey module links to Rockware’s LogPlot to create diagrams detailing the lithology of a borehole. Both modules link to GIS software to provide visual representation and facilitate spatial searching of your ground and water monitoring data.

risk assessment

Risks to the land quality of your site are dependant on the four main pathway-receptors; air, surface water, ground water and direct exposure. Any possible risks need to be identified, investigated and acted upon when proving the land quality of your site. The Sentencing module of IMAGES enables you to derive calculated source-pathway receptor risk assessments for all areas of your site. Data from the other modules within IMAGES can be referenced and a revision controlled audit trail of all remedial measures and management actions maintained so that the liability holders’ responsibility for ensuring appropriate management of the contaminated land can be assured.

health physics

The Health Physics module enables information to be captured in a consistent manner as a surveyor works around the site monitoring safe levels of radiation.

  • Infield quality-controlled data capture of radiation survey data
  • Links to other IMAGES modules, including Invasive Survey to tie in radiation survey data with ground investigation exercises
  • Management of clean surveys and spot status
  • Links to GIS software to provide visual representation and facilitate spatial searching of your ground and water monitoring data

GIS

GIS (Geographical Information Systems) are becoming increasingly important throughout the site remediation process. GIS allows the representation of your data in a graphical form for simple interpretation of sources of possible interest or contamination. ESiT provide strict controls of your data to ensure that the information displayed on your maps is accurate and reliable, with complex searching and analysis functionality to define what data is displayed in GIS. We are an ESRI business partner and work closely to integrate with their products.

  • Links to ArcMap to allow spatial visualisation of your data
  • IMAGES ArcMap toolbar allows spatial interrogation for all geo-referenced data held within IMAGES
  • IMAGES ArcCatalog toolbar allows the submission of GIS files to an administrator for approval
  • IMAGES GIS module provides the ability to catalogue approved files
  • GISViewLT – IMAGES inbuilt GIS viewer for interrogating your database
